“We don’t have to be perfect parents - only present ones.”

It’s a quote I heard somewhere that’s always stuck with me. I could’ve never committed to perfect parenting. Hell, I didn’t have perfect parents.

But what I could commit to is an intention to be present. Present to him. And present to my experience as a parent. And present to my constant intention to do the best I can.

And I can live with that. The do-gooder, reformed people pleaser, and “it’s fine girl” can live with that. In fact, I’m damn proud of myself as a parent because I do my best to show up daily even when it’s hard.

Or even like today when he has to miss beach summer camp because mama has an event.

I’m reminded - presence over perfection. That’s my goal.

And I’m ok with that.

How are you feeling out there mamas? You feel me? Share below.

In presence, gratitude and truth,

Brooke-Sidney
