MEDITATION GOALS CAN BE TRICKY!
MEDITATION GOALS CAN BE TRICKY!
On the one hand, it’s good to set a goal because it usually helps with commitment and consistency.
But, on the other hand, goals can set us up for attachment, expectation and the BIG J WORD…
JUDGMENT
I’ve found that with myself and my clients that one of the biggest and stickiest things with meditation is how we judge it and ourselves.
Are we doing it right?
Are we doing it wrong?
Are we doing it enough?
Are our minds silent enough?
Are we really connecting with Spirit?
Our meditation goals can then dig little mental ditches for us.
I ENCOURAGE MY CLIENTS TO JUST BEGIN AND TO SURRENDER TO THE EXPERIENCE.
To set the INTENTION to meditate and allow what happens to happen.
Just allow it to be.
To process whatever comes up, and let it go.
To use what works and discard the rest.
And to enter into a place of GRACE for yourself and the practice.
Ultimately, our meditation practice is a place of comfort, serenity, safety, and going within.
It is unfortunate when this practice becomes yet another tool to hit ourselves with, or measure and judge ourselves.
Today, I ask you to approach your meditation practice from a place of INTENTION and GRACE.
ALLOWANCE.
And KNOWING - that everything is as it should be.
In presence and gratitude,
Brooke-Sidney
